“Be consistent in your motivation.” These were the words that I had written on a note to talk about this week; but in all honesty, it’s an absolute load of b.s.
Truth is we live a life of unpredictable variables that are constantly finding ways to seep under our skin.
Tragic life events, loss of friends, employers who don’t understand – To be quite frank, it’s a never-ending list.
But I’m going to tell you this now…Don’t ever for a second cave in!!
We’re here on this planet for a reason, and some may call it “destiny,” whereas I call it your calling.
Don’t wait on others to help you.
You have all the resources. And expecting love, validation, and unconditionality from your caregiver is unfair.
I’ll be honest, your caregiver will always be there for you. Always. But who are you if you take advantage of that and expect them to help you everyday without challenging yourself?
Who are you if you’re still waiting for that magic pill to recover and have your life back?
We do not want shortcuts… We want challenges!
I want that for you.
So – where do we go from here?
What happens the next time someone in our life fades away into the abyss we know as death? We can sit around and be sad about it for a day, a week, or a month. That’s deserved. But after that, it’s time to live a life of fulfillment.
Many of us look for the whole package. A job that pays well, gives us benefits, and to cap it off – life fulfillment.
But what’s wrong with that sentence?
We’re seeking for it.
You have everything in your power to go out and create what you deserve. Quit looking for the answer and develop it yourself.
Know who you are, and what you’re good at.
Don’t sell yourself short.
Find that motivation and get off that couch, out of that chair, and get into gear.
From this day forward, have a mantra to be an unconquerable soul.
Look in that mirror and say, “Nothing is stopping me.”
Push to exhaustion, and go one step further from that.
Our motivation needs to come from grit.
You need to have a mindset that says – alright I’m one in four people who unfortunately had a stroke. Whatever. I’m going to show myself that I’m better than this. This brain attack has nothing to do with who I am, and I am a hard knocking, transforming, gritty, resilient warrior who’s going to accept this challenge. I don’t care what the medical industry thinks of me, I don’t need a doctor’s validation to get better…I just need my own.
I’m going to leave you with a brief read. This poem has had meaning for decades, much like your life can live on, if you have purpose from this day forward:
Invictus – William Ernest Henley
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
Committed to YOUR Recovery!
