Finding and working toward a goal can be a constant assessment in this after-stroke journey.
Knowing that our lives have changed in ways may make it hard to find a goal and/or mission to align ourselves with.
You may be wondering “How” am I going to move forward and find a “Why” again.
I wrote and developed a short program before I had my stroke. It is called “Simple as P.I.E.”
Let me share a bit with you in hopes that it can help a bit.
P.I.E. stands for Passion, Intention and Execution.
Passion will motivate you toward your goals.
Discovering your passions will help you make a great change in your journey of recovery and beyond.
Having some goals and working toward them is what will give you that sense of fulfillment.
I realize that we all have times that we don’t move as fast as we’d like…I totally feel this way at times. But, knowing what those passions are helps keep me pursuing my ambitions.
Here are a few questions to help you. Keep in mind as you look at these what your heart is telling you:
- What can you get excited about?
- What motivates you to get up and move toward each day?
- If money wasn’t a barrier, what would you do?
- What do you enjoy doing most days?
- What excites you?
Intention actually comes from the Latin word Intendere – In meaning “Toward”, tend meaning “Stretch”.
It is no secret that in order to change and grow you must be willing to stretch yourself.
This can be challenging and even a bit frightening!
As you grow, your confidence will increase and self-generate. You will realize exponential growth in many areas of life.
Life is full of challenges. They come in all forms, and no-one is exempt from experiencing them.
This doesn’t change the fact that you still have choices and decisions to make each and every day.
I know…You cannot control what happened to you. You can, however, control how you respond.
It is a matter of getting clearer on what it is you want, and having this in front of you each day.
Create some affirmations to read and/or listen to each day to help you on your journey.
- I deserve happiness and abundance in my life.
- I am a confident, creative person and have everything it takes to continue to grow and prosper.
- I am in balance spiritually, physically, financially, and emotionally today.
Execution is where you will have the best results with your Passion and Intention.
This is just a fact of the matter.
Those that have the best results in their life are the ones who have their goals in front of them and are persistent in moving toward them.
We can certainly “Get in our own way” at times…maybe more than we’d like. I want to encourage you here…don’t get caught up in worrying about it.
Instead of spending your quality “brain time” thinking of the past, continue to think of your Passion and Intention as you Execute your way forward.
Remember
- Acceptance of what has happened is a huge key to moving forward.
- Everyone has challenges.
- Take personal responsibility toward moving forward.
- Having the right attitude is key to unlocking personal challenges.
- Plan your work and work your plan.
- Track your progress and measure your results
One thing I ask people all the time is “Are you being as accountable to yourself as you are to others?”.
Food for thought…
Continuing to evolve is key to enjoying life.
